Fleet Street office space at 16-18 New Bridge Street

New Bridge Street runs from Ludgate Circus down to the river, and Fleet Street begins at the top of it. Occupiers searching for Fleet Street office space usually want a City address with some history behind it and a short walk to a mainline platform. 16-18 New Bridge Street sits on the corner with Tudor Street and offers both, with two floors available on a new lease.

Five centuries of printing, then none

The trade arrived in 1500, when Wynkyn de Worde, who had worked for Caxton, moved his press to a site beside St Bride's Church. The association lasted almost five hundred years and then ended quickly. The national titles began leaving after the move to Wapping in 1986, and Reuters, the last major news agency on the street, went to Canary Wharf in 2005. St Bride's is still known as the journalists' church, and its Wren spire is said to have given a Ludgate Hill baker the idea for the tiered wedding cake.

The working address today

Law and finance largely took over from the presses. The Inns of Court lie immediately west, where the round Temple Church has stood since it was consecrated in 1185, and the Royal Courts of Justice open onto the Strand a little beyond. Inside the building, the first floor is 3,205 sq ft NIA arranged for 32 desks with meeting rooms and call booths, while the sixth floor is 1,363 sq ft NIA under dormer windows. Delivery is either Cat A or a landlord fitted solution.

Both floors are described in more detail, with plans and images, on the 16-18 New Bridge Street property website.
